Welcome to Official JF2008 Website
It was the year 2000 when the first Japan Festival was held in Melbourne. The Japan Festival continued to be successful and we are proud of opening the 9th year of the festival this year. The festival has provided the opportunity to exchange cultural experiences for not only the Japanese community here, but also for the local community. The festival, with a rich variety of exhibits and stalls, has attracted all ages. It also has earned its status as the biggest Japan related event in Australia, which has quite often been mentioned in the newspapers.
Japan Festival this year will include new aspects of Japanese culture such as young culture, popular culture, as well as traditional Japanese culture. We, the festival's orginasing committee, endeavour to make the festival an enjoyable experience for the participants including sponsors and organisers as well. We wish to build and consolidate this festival something that everyone who participates will be proud of as our own festival.

2000年に最初に開催され、毎年盛大になっているJapan Festivalは2008年で9回目を迎え、日本とオーストラリアとの交流の場として、日系コミュニティーだけでなく、多くの地元の人々の注目を集めています。大人も子供も楽しめるオーストラリア最大の日本関係のイベントとして新聞にも取り上げられ、日豪交流を語る上で無くてはならないものとして成長してきました。
従来どおり日本の伝統的な文化を紹介しながら、新しい企画を加えて、来場者、出店者も、出演者も、スポンサーも、運営スタッフもみんながより一層楽しめ、メルボルンの日系コミュニティー全体、そして地元の人々が自分達のお祭りと誇れるものにしたいと考えていいます。そのJapan Festival 2008の内容をこのサイトにて紹介していきます。
